Barely two weeks have passed since the devastating earthquake in Haiti.
The outpouring of gifts from members of our parish and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America as a whole has enabled a swift response to the suffering.
Thank you for your generous financial support and prayers. We collected three thousand dollars for Haiti last Sunday in our first collection. Churchwide, we have collected $1.6 million for Haiti that will be matched by Thrivent Financial Services for Lutherans. Thousands of other gifts are still being counted.
Long after the news teams and media coverage leave Haiti the church will continue its service to the suffering. And, like the disaster in Haiti the church continues to serve victims of other natural disasters like the Asian Tsunami and Hurricane Katrina.
In fact, Trinity is sending its third mission team to the gulf coast of Mississippi next month to continue the clean up. We are sending 16 members to serve in the Gulfport area Februaury 28, 2010.
God bless you for your gifts and prayers in the current crisis. Your generosity makes this life saving work possible.
In Christ's Mission,
Pastor Guiser
